(..."and just very simply, Jesus loved him.")

V.23 reminds me of 2 Cr. 8:9. (though He was rich, He became poor)

What if Jesus was talking confidentially about Himself? He'd already corrected the man in verse 1, by attributing goodness to only God.

V. 25 - remember how the Hebrew word for camel is gamal? (repay, requite) The camel does the care of its master.

Jesus was/is a hammer, rock, branch, cornerstone, vine, tree of Life, living water, living word, etc. ad infinitum.

Couldn't God's Lamb, also be a camel? (Hebrews 5:8)

I appreciate the contrast between this verse and Hebrews 10:19.

Verses 29 & 30... WOW. If this is true (and, I have no reason to doubt), then think about the fullness/scope/dimension of the Kingdom Jesus left to incarnate on earth! (heaven = earth's template)

What's interesting is how He made an example of how the rich, young man didn't receive His word. But, it's evident the disciples didn't either. Maybe that's the explanation for v. 31.

I appreciate how, in v. 33, Jesus described himself as Son of Man, and the possibility of a juxtaposition in Himself, in v.18.

v.35. The disciples' reaction - bizarro. But, here's what I think is unusual, too. Remember when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead? He'd been in a cave for 4 days. Since Jesus resurrected His friend, why wouldn't He be able to resurrect Himself?

A co-worker posed this question to my sister: Ever wonder why Jesus called out Lazarus by name? He speculates that if Jesus only said, "Come forth!", all buried in the vicinity would rise before the completion of His earth mission!

v.37 & 38 - Would be interesting, if the malefactor on his cross asked God the same thing, before the world was created. Was he completely submitted to a Higer authority, so that he might be seen on earth, hanging beside the Christ?

Bish, your paraphrase of Mark continues to inspire me to wonder.Izumi/JOYnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-96114027914038785.post-46928720892947974712009-07-15T10:54:59.191-04:002009-07-15T10:54:59.191-04:00I'll plan on coming back and reading more soon...I'll plan on coming back and reading more soon, but wanted to mention that I also wrote something about seeking first the kingdom and not worrying over at
kingdomquest1.blogspot.com if you get the chance.

Like your writing...God bless!
-Karlkarl cobosnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-96114027914038785.post-2807313332621425222009-07-15T04:24:13.501-04:002009-07-15T04:24:13.501-04:00word ver: sessesse

No one is good except God alone. YIKES...if we can't take example from THAT statement alone, huh ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then.. having to leave behind, precious, familiar, comfortable "everything" for HIM and HIS purpose is what needs to be done with many of us and our lives. We wonder (some worry) what would others say. To want HIM, to feel it and let go of what you know,despite it's appearances (to others)....WOW.
Then to be blessed beyond and be rich beyond compare to what we know in this realm....I CAN ONLY IMAGINE! We judge wealth so selfishly.(humanly I suppose)
It's not for anyone to judge or think it crazy when another changes and simplifies for choosing HIM and what HE has for them. Who do you know that has? Who is thinking it's time ?
Changes are coming, they always do. The first being last and the last being first is something I frequently evaluate and find peace.
For I'm not running a race, but walking a walk, one that I pray HE finds pleasing.
I am seeing HIS work in and around me, more and more recently, and things will happen that only will be "understood" later. HIS TIMING is perfect, and that I trust.
Have to borrow a line from you, Bish.."Nothing changes, if nothing changes".
