I love this classic bit from The Andy Griffith Show. It reminds me of people who want to argue with you about the Scriptures, but they don't know as much as they think they know...

(scroll down to the music player and pause it first)

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
(Hebrews 2:1 - KJV)

Notice how he made his hair look Einsteinesque? Now THAT'S frightening!

Raptured?... Hardly! The rapture would save me from this hellish bathroom project that I've engulfed myself with. I'm not half bad at home improvement, but a word to the wise... NEVER use apoxy on something unless you REALLY mean it!! Joe introduced me to J B WELD a few years ago. Great for artwork; it actually saved "Back to the Garden" for me. But a couple of years ago I used it for a 'quick fix' on a bathroom fixture that wasn't flush to the wall (sheer laziness), and it took me at least 30 minutes today, and a quarter-sized hole in the wall to get it off! Can you say FUN?!?... or PLASTER?!? It's drying now. This is what boredom brings you, folks. Don't allow yourselves to get bored :) But gosh, I guess the bathroom will look pretty awesome when I'm finished... maybe!

Cheers!

That was funny. I didn't quite see the parallel at first, but as Andy was s-l-o-w-l-y reading the words to Barney it made me think of all the wonderful promises in the word the church has overlooked or come up with some way to explain away what is cleary stated. Showing them to someone sometimes you do almost have to speak like that so they can process what it's saying. Too funny, good one Bishop.

ACTS 3:21

I just noticed something kinda cool. The verse I just referred to. The times of the restitution of all things. We know some of the significances of the book of ACTS. It was like ok here we go the New Covenant begins. And what do we find in Chapter 3 verse 21?

Well, 3 Is a very symbolic number. I represents many things. The number 3 represents "Perfection" There are 3 dimensions that encompass everything on earth - length, width, and depth. During His ministry Jesus raised 3 people from the grave to show his perfect power over death. Peter denied Jesus 3 times but Jesus gave Him the opportunity to repent 3 times. On the cross above Jesus was a sign that said, "King of the Jews". It was written in 3 different languages. Peter had 3 visions to convince him to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (Acts 11:5-10). According to 1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood and these three agree in one. The multiples of the number 3 can have the same meaning. For example, Christ begun His ministry at the age of 30 and died at the age of 33. The scriptures contain this number more than any other. In the Godhead, there is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. There were 3 times that the Father's voice bore testimony of His Son. The first time was at Christ's baptism (Matthew 3:17) as a testimony to the Jews. The second time was for the church leaders (Luke 9:35) and the third was for the gentiles (John 12:28). In fact, Jesus even told them, "This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes" (Vs 30).

So what do we find in the defining book of the New Covenant in Chapter 3?

A Countdown

3.............2..............1

THE RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS!!!

ACTS 3:21

A countdown to what glory awaits, I 'd garner we've never yet imagined.

Kinda Cool!

... thank goodness I had "Schoolhouse Rock" for the preamble...

That's ironic. Some fellow TAGS fanatics and I were just discussing that episode yesterday, but not from that perspective.
I see the parallel there. And isn't it strange that after "Andy" got finished saying the preamble, Barnie was totally convinced that HE was the one that had it all together. My, my, my!

Bishop, I want to let you know how proud I am to be a MEMBER of this Church Without Walls. I'm proud to be a contributing member of a Church who’s Pastor loves and trusts his own sheep enough to speak the Truth, even if they pout, throw tantrums and stomp out. I'm proud that the doors of our Church are open to anyone. I'm proud that anyone can come in any door--the front door, the cyber door, the cd/dvd door, the book door, the “we just had our meeting there” door, the “I’m warming a bench and don’t get it yet” door.

In every neighborhood there seems to be a house where all the kids want to hang out. It costs the parents of that house more than the others--sodas in the fridge, sandwiches, pizza. But the parents know where their kids are and know what’s going on in their lives and they have a sneakin’ suspicion that their raising other people’s kids, but it’s okay, ‘cos they love the other people’s kids and the lazy, skeered parents, too.

We're that house! And I'm proud of it!! If it “costs” me more to help maintain the house, I don’t care. God supplies all of my need—and He’s gonna show His sexy, mighty guns on OUR behalf.

It would be great if all the kids could join the family. But if they can’t, I'm proud that they recognize the Truth that is spoken here. I’m proud that they can get fed and go to their Churches full. Maybe they’ll be able to speak the Barnie s-l-o-w message and someone in their house will be set free. I get to LIVE in the house with the cool parents and I can hardly contain the pride I feel.

If this pride is off base or wrong I’ll take my discipline and go to my room.

Suddenly feeling the need for "jaw sugar."

Rats! Joe is away on business. Even the little munchkins are burrowed under their
blankies:(

Guess I'll go watch TV... (pout)

Nite, all.

Avatar that was great. Ditto. It's even a word for a "house mom" I'm friends with in the neighborhoods
around here. I'm going to print it for her to read. Thanks.

That was hilarious! It cracked me up big time! I’m an Andy Griffith fan but somehow I don’t remember that scene. It does prove how we humans are so fickle about what we think we know. I get some weird emails from some that visit my sites from all over the place. I had one girl email me the other day and said “yeah this all sounds so good and sweet, but what about where the bible says that after your skin burns off in the fires of hell then God just continues to put new skin on you so you can keep burning” I kid you not; I don’t know where they get this stuff.

After emailing her back and explaining more fully the truth of scriptures on hell, she thanked me for showing her that was not in the bible. But then turned around and pulled another hare brained verse out of nowhere, I don’t remember exactly, I would have to go back and read it but it was something about; no matter what we do we are all going to burn anyway because we cant be good enough for heaven. I tried to counsel her on this; But on this one she insisted that it was in the bible and was going to get back to me when she finds it…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..:)

Fresh revelations, being revealed to one revelator, who gets what he gets from where he gets it, (which he can't explain)
and then he gives what he's been given to us, and when we hear it, it seems as though we've known it all along, yet when we first heard it, it was the first time it had ever been spoken or heard, so we think. (That which we heard from the beginning)

And within a second from those who hear it live, it can be heard by those in distant lands.(strmn)

And what's so awesome about it is, it happens week after week after week...

Den,....I mean Iconoclast, Iconoclast, Iconoclast!
I love you my dear brother, but I have found yet another parallel.
I only say this in love.
Iconoclast said, "I’m an Andy Griffith fan but somehow I don’t remember that scene."
The Bible says in the authorized Mississippi version, "If a man says he loves God and hates his brother, he's a lar and duh troof ain't in him."
Being an Andy Griffith fan and not seeing that scene is like saying I'm a christian but I've never heard of John 3:16.
I'm just messing with you brother. I talked to Dr. Lovelace Sunday morning. He's having computer problems and I tried getting him through it over the telephone but never could. I think his media player has some corrupted files. Have you tried to help him with it?
Oh by the way, my word verification is "bjfsbh" and Lord please forgive me of my sins 'cause I sho didn't think godly stuff when I saw that."
