Encourage Yourself!

Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues?

Fix my eyes on God—soon I’ll be praising again.

He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.
(Psalm 42:11 - The Message)

David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
(1 Samuel 30:6 - AMP)

Today I will live in the now! I will live in the now because I have learned from David’s example how to encourage myself in the Lord by speaking prophetically to my own soul. (“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” – Psalm 103:1, 2)

Today I will not feel sorry for myself for any reason. If God is for me, who can be against me?

Today I will not let myself fall into sadness or depression. The joy of the Lord is my strength!

Today I will not act like a big baby. When I was a child I spoke as a child, but now that I am an adult, I will put away childish things and act and speak like the mature person that I am.

Today I will not be negative in my thoughts or words. I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me!

Today I will not be afraid of anything. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Today I will speak the word only...keep a positive outlook on life...respond proactively to all circumstances...forgive my offenders...pray for my enemies...see the glass half full... surround myself with positive people...count my blessings and be grateful for all of them... forgive myself for my failures...refuse to live with regret...learn from my mistakes...keep smiling...look forward to my future...face my fears...keep moving in the right direction...be a blessing to someone...reward myself for my accomplishments...pray without ceasing...in everything give thanks...get up when I fall down...overcome evil with good...do the right thing...let yesterday go...speak well of myself...accept change...stay true to my vision... believe in my dreams...imagine possibilities...give myself a break...see the big picture...put my trust in God...keep my eyes on Jesus...rely on the help of the Holy Spirit...get it together for the sake of the Kingdom! Today I will encourage myself in the Lord, and today I will live in the now!

SELAH!

Happy Birthday, Jonah Swilley, who turns 15 today...you are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased...

I can't do any better than the best I can, so today I choose to do the best that I can, so when this day is done, at least, at the beginning of it, my choice was the best choice I could choose. And with the greatest of expectations,
I expect to see incredible manifestations to expose themselves throughout the day in the most wonderful of ways, all because at the beginning, the choice I made was to do the best I could, and to have a good day.

And Bishop and Pastor Debye, in all you do today, be blessed.

Fascinating message yesterday Bishop. The symbols and revelation were something that I doubt have ever been revealed in that respect before. The Spirit strikes again! It's something that I know I will never forget. And not only that, it really applies to my life right now due to the burden I feel for pastors who need to get their flock out of the darkness and into the light.
I can hear the corn turning into popcorn here in Egypt. One pastor and sheep at a time, in our life like a movie...well maybe.

In the days of the early church, who by the way had a very cheerful faith, the cross was not their symbol that we have used it today. If you were to go into the catacombs of Rome , the graves of the earliest Christian church; the symbols often used were of fish and anchors and pictures like the one I'm using for my profile now. The principal device, scratched on slabs, carved on utensils and rings, and seen almost everywhere, is the Good Shepherd, surrounded by his flock and carrying a lamb. But most striking of all, he is found with a goat on his shoulder; which teaches us that even the wicked were at the early date regarded as the objects of the Savior's solicitude, after departing from this life.

"He saves the sheep, the goats he doth not save!"
So rang Tertullian's sentence on the side
of that unpitying Phrygian sect which cried,--
"Him can no fount of fresh forgiveness lave,
Whose sins once washed by the baptismal wave!"
So spake the fierce Tertullian. But she sighed,
The infant Church,--of love she felt the tide
Stream on her from her Lord's yet recent grave,
And then she smiled, and in the Catacombs,
With eyes suffused but heart inspired true,
On those walls subterranean, where she hid
Her head in ignominy, death and tombs,
She her Good Shepherd's hasty image drew
And on his shoulders not a lamb, a kid!

HaHA, I like that one a lot.

One quick comment (I'm still catching up)--thanks for Twila's Body of Christ, Bishop. I had forgotten how much it and the whole Worship album speaks/spoke to me.

Okay, two. SOZ, there is also a symbol that the Antiquities department has suppressed. I'll see if I can locate it and post it.

Anonymous said...

ZOZ,

I like your perspective on the kid and must say that for me that is fresh.

I've been fasinated with the idea of the scape goat used in OT references and have even seen the typical goat that was bread and used for that purpose. They are a novelty to westerners and are sometimes used as pets for amusement. We call them fainting goats and laugh at their unusual behavior when they are frightened.
When startled, their legs stiffen and they fall over in a tonic type of convulsion that is produced by fear. In olden times they were placed among the sheep so that when a preditor came and the sheep were running away, they would be the preditor's target instead of the sheep. They were of little value to the sheep keeper otherwise because of their small size and wirey hair.

The thought of Christ caring for the kid is typical of saying there is no longer any need for a scape goat.

Thank you for the inspiring thought. It flows well with today's AYITN.

Hello All,

I missed Sunday service, was out of town, but did see a really cool praise & worship service using songs from The Lion King and dance that was beautifully choreographed. Although the physical stage was small, the praise & worship in the song and dance filled the Universe.

Again, the Circle of Life song reminds how there is so much God has filled this realm with, in all of our lives, we always find more beauty, more peace, more life, with every moment. It is inexhaustible.

On Sat afternoon, was discussing some re the Cross, and the earlier symbols associated with Jesus. Will get the MP3 or CD to hear the whole message, but of course that would be some part of Sunday message (it seems). SOZ, not sure if the reference to Jesus carrying the Lamb was in the service, and also The Goat, in any event, but of course !

That is the Word on Canvas. The brush strokes are beautiful to look at in detail. The whole painting at first glance (of The Bible and of Jesus) depicts clearly the reconciled Joy that already exists. We don’t look at the Mona Lisa and think, hmmmm, is that a painting of a landscape, maybe of trees, no it is of a woman, at a casual glance, on its face. Looking closer, the mastery of the detail is marvelous, and brings more appreciation. However, the portrait is clearly visible. .

There is much to say here so if there is any misunderstanding to follow let it be known that there is more to understand than what has been conveyed. I love God and seek a better understanding of what or who God is every day.

Avatar’s mention of suppressed information is primarily responsible for what follows so if you are offended blame him or her. BTW Avatar, I am familiar with the Nazarene claim to be the most original of Christian sects but it is important to note that Nazarene is just a sect. For purposes of clarity let it be known that a sect to me is a part of the whole and is not excluded in any way and further, by definition of sect, is indeed only a part.

Situated both behind the Abrahamic faith and outside the same there is still a desire to exalt the idea of a power or powers greater than ourselves as God. In some instances these ideas are reflected as gods which in retrospect to me seem to be identifiers of various aspects of the same great power rather than many different deities. For instance, I am, according to family legend, one eighth Choctaw. They existed outside of Abraham’s faith but agreed as part of the Cherokee nation on the idea of a Great Spirit who ruled all known things. I know based on my own experience that those who truly desire to worship God must do so with their spirit because God is a Spirit.

Depending on your resource, Abraham was either pre, post or contemporaneous to Hammurabi of the infamous Hammurabi Code. Either Abraham influenced Hammurabi or was influenced by him. The only thing that is important about this is that the same laws further passed down to the Hebrews under the charge of Moses pre-existed the Ten Commandments accredited to Moses direct interaction with God. This does not, for me, debunk Moses as someone who plagiarized Hammurabi but serves as kindling for the thought that God had to be redundant in the approach toward communication with humanity concerning the best possible understanding of Love.

The provision for the understanding of this Love was made before the placing of souls in this dimension as a prelude for what would further help those souls understand the perfect condition in which they existed. Imagine a state of being in which everything is perfect. How do you know what perfection is? This is what Genesis referred to as the so called fall of man. The eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil was a departure from what was known by only eating from the tree of Life. The only knowledge of life was perfect but what was that? Once there was an impartation of perfect life in contrast to the knowledge of good and evil, then God’s Love began to be comprehended but still was not understood.

The culmination to the highest possible degree of communication concerning God’s love for the world and those who exist in it was made when God became incarnate with this temporal place of explanation and showed just how much Love and Perfect Life there is to be understood. There is nothing more to be said about God’s Love than it is finished.

What will we do then with God’s spoken Word?

To the death or to the denying?

I intensely read what everyone writes, and I try to see what you all see about what you believe, especially that which I leave, after I have taken what I need.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Peace.

Hello Bishop,
How are you?

I haven't read the blogs yet...at my aunt's house...got to pick up Zachary, and speaking of sons...a big Happy Birthday to Jonah!!!

Last night when I came down front and shook hands I knew I wanted to say something but forgot what it was until I left...just drew a blank I guess, hence the pause between my God bless you and thank you Bishop.

What it was is that I heard that song you sang last week "He has made me glad" on the radio. I was having trouble in the car with Zachary and turned on the radio to find something calming for both of us...thinking to go to the classical station I ended up on 89.7. I rarely even go below 91.5.

...and there it was..."He has made me glad, oh He has made me glad, I will rejoice for He has made me glad!"...what's so cool too, is that when the song finished...the station fizzed out. I tried it again just 1 mile or less down the road and couldn't get it...nothing.

I thought it a beautiful connection and reassurance.

God bless, gotta go...please pray that I'll be able to actually read more blogs and write, I really miss it. Thanks!

Love,
Karl

Sahib,

My parents forgot my birthday once. We didn't have a lot, so I was not accustomed to abundance, but to be remembered is the quintessential "you are important to me" thought that one can purvey to another. Your son may never tell you how much it means to him, but rest assured that it means more than whatever he could speak.

I have made all efforts to remember those close to me and I wish I knew more about all of the bloggers, but here goes:
Happy Birthday Jonah, Jimmie (sp?), JB, Peacemaker (although Hippie Birthday seems more appropriate), and Wendy.

Anyway, speaking of encouraging one’s self, I have encouraged myself in the last few days by allowing the voice in me to turn a wrathful situation into peace. The one speaking encouraged me to handle an impasse in a way that I would not have normally executed. Suffices to say, I circumnavigated the globe before I took the one step that the voice told me to take and the whole ugly mess was settled with "Forgive Me". You know what? The other person got it as well. It wasn't critical that they acknowledge my obedience, but it was sure a lot more satisfying than my gloating over having won a screaming match. In many ways, I birthed a new me.

Happy Birthday to Me

Ain't God Good?

Hey blog fam!
Missed you guys! BLESS THE LORD & all that is within me says to Bless His HOLY Name!

Refreshing message today!

Someone sent this to me...thought you'd enjoy...

t when the other graces are out of date--love continues.
And in this sense the apostle says that love is greater than
faith or hope--because it abides the longest. "Love will last
forever!" (1 Cor. 13:8). Faith is the 'staff' which we walk
with in this life. "We walk by faith" (2 Cor. 5:7). But we
shall leave this staff at heaven's door--and only 'love'
shall enter. Thus love carries away the crown from all the
other graces. Love is the most long-lived grace--it is a
blossom of eternity. How should we strive to excel in this
grace, which alone shall live with us in heaven, and shall
accompany us to the marriage supper of the Lamb!

Peace~love~smiles

btw~love the smiling Jesus!
The first one I ever saw was in 1998 as a sculpture at The Crystal Cathedral in California. Took pictures because it spoke to me. I then started wandering why don't we see more of Jesus smiling?

Acts 10:44 - "While Peter was still speaking these words, the HOLY SPIRIT fell upon ALL those who heard the word."

HOW DO YOU RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT?

FIRST, remember who the Baptizer is JESUS CHRIST. Matthew 3:11 - "He will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and fire."

SECOND, yield to God. He must use your vocal cords. Acts 2:4 - "And they were all FILLED with the HOLY SPIRIT and began to SPEAK WITH Other TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

THIRD, ask JESUS to fill you with the HOLY SPIRIT with the EVIDENCE of Speaking in TONGUES. Start praying out loud.

You do NOT have to "tarry" like the disciples of the upper room. You can have this free gift RIGHT NOW.

You don't know what you are missing by not SPEAKING IN TONGUES on a daily basis.

Can’t wait to get the CD or DVD of both services yesterday, I know the Holy Spirit showed up… and although there is nothing like being ITB… I will have to forfeit and watch the service via DVD… I missed you all greatly… and can’t wait to see everyone ITB on Wed…

God is so good all of the time… the blog for today Bishop was so timely for where I am at… For some reason my perception has been a little skew and have had a hard time encouraging myself in the Lord… But after reading yours and everyone else’s post… my perception is back… and I am soaring again…

Hello Best of the best of the best ! Sir !

Encourage myself - Thought about this. I have been doing that for most of my life. The earliest memory I have is -who I now know as The Holy Spirit – speaking to me, letting me know it is all OK. Just go with what I know. These are my words today, but that was the essence back then, some 39, 40 years ago. Details at the time are not necessary.

What did I know then, know now? Then – did not know much. I knew Love, HS said, trust me. OK. What about this person, what about them ? --- Shhhhh, do not think on it. They want what is best for you, they don’t know what that is, they are scared. -- But I am scared too, -- its OK, you are safe. --- I believe you. All these years of HS presence followed. Images changed, words, impressions grew.

What I know now – ultimately the same I knew then, with a whole lot more words. I know love is the basic. God’s love for all, God in all. With that as a basis, everything changes. Then, I see God in each. Every person then becomes new. Then, I see that every issue, first see the beam in my own eye, before trying to fix the speck in others’.

I then see the beauty that surrounds us all, is in us all. I see the love of God, of myself, and for all others. I see my own faults forgiven. Of course, so are others, as mine are. Some people I do not like, but they have God’s love, so I bless them, and may choose not to accompany them. From there, I remember how blessed I have been from the beginning. I am feeling pretty good now.

Then add that mercy and grace (oh especially grace) follow me every day. Add to that, it is the same for each of us. On top of that the beauty in each moment, the detail to every experience that God developed. I forget what it was that was downing. My created struggles. I see that God is. Peace. Yes, tongues when I do not know what else, the best.

God always delivers. I am encouraged!

" SECRET PLACES "
(A Devotional...)

Have you ever noticed how often Satan uses secret things to trip us up on our journey…those secret places that reside deep within our soul that we keep hidden from others and even try to hide from God?

Think about it…viewing pornography is usually done in secret. Excessive shopping can be done over the Internet, with no one watching. Eating disorders develop in isolation when we binge by ourselves, then purge with no one around. Or when we publicly pretend to eat, but privately starve ourselves.

The things we watch, what we think and how we spend our time are the “secret places” Satan can and will use against us. Yet often we continue in our secrecy, afraid to reach for Truth. Why? Secret places seem safe. Secret places are familiar. Secret places feel comfortable to us.
So we cling to them. It’s not that we don’t want to be honest and get real about the secret places in our soul. It’s just sometimes easier to keep the truth hidden than it is to get real about things from the inside-out.

Though most of us crave authenticity, our fears of being “found out” are what keep us living in secret, exactly where Satan wants us to stay. The crafty, conniving one knows that if he can get us to continue to bury our secret places deep within our heart, we can’t be effective for God. He knows that thoughts of our private sins will eventually eat away at us, causing us to feel fraudulent and unworthy of the love and acceptance of others, and most of all, our Heavenly Father. But the truth is, we are the ones who don’t love and accept ourselves. Not God.

Friends, the message of Jesus Christ is one of hope and restoration. It is one of freedom. It is one of unconditional love and acceptance. And it is one of Truth and spiritual exposure. What He is after from all of us is greater authenticity, greater genuineness, and the Truth, found in Him. In His sovereignty, He knows it is what we truly crave. “What you’re after is truth, from the inside-out” Psalm 51:6 (MSG).

So, how do we combat those secret keeping habits we’ve developed over time?

1) Practice telling the truth. Telling the truth is a choice and needs to be a conviction. Healthy habits can and will be formed when practiced repeatedly, and truth telling is an important habit to get into.

2) Develop a genuinely authentic faith. Recognize the importance of authenticity, and begin making it of utmost priority. Do things to strengthen your walk (prayer, Bible study, etc.) and guard your mind.

3) Recognize that no one has it all together. See Satan’s lie for what it is and determine not to get into the comparison trap with others. You cannot know what a person is all about by what they look like on the outside.

4) Stop trying to be perfect, act confident, appear happy, and seem super spiritual. These are some of the most common ways we, as women, pretend. It is only when we operate in a spirit of truth and openness that we will be able to live without pretense.

5) Determine to live your life with a genuineness that others will cling to and want to emulate. Honesty facilitates honesty. When you begin to get real and honest, hiding nothing in your relationship with God and others, people will begin to take notice and follow suit. This will strengthen all of your relationships and build up your self-esteem!When we no longer hide in our “secret places,” we can venture down a different path of greater authenticity and truth, bringing us to a place of ultimate and lasting freedom. And it is in freedom that we find no value in being a secret keeper any more.

”He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.

” (Job 28:11)

Heavenly Father,Abba Father,
thank You for knowing me completely, and loving me just the same. Help me to seek Your Truth and deny my natural tendency to hide from You and others.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen !
