The 1997 version of Titanic ends with a camera journey through the real wreckage at the bottom of the Atlantic...viewed as if we are walking the decks, the ship returns to its original glory and Jack, who died saving Rose, joins her for a kiss at the restored Grand Staircase. I agree with reviewers who pointed out that the reason the movie touched a chord in so many of us is the Love story that parallels the Gospel, and most especially in the addition of the final restoration scenes, which touched the hope of Glory in each one of us.

That connection is on my mind this weekend since I happened upon a story about the Titanic. Asking the question, how could ice rip steel? research on the wreckage revealed that the 5-compartment rip was not a cut as originally believed. It was the result of failure in the lower grade iron rivets—the decision to use a weaker connector in construction of the high grade steel panels of the hull. The pressure of the collision caused the lower grade iron to pop, putting pressure on the neighboring rivets, so small zipper like rips opened all along the 5 compartments.

Sharing the vision of P-404 at prayer Friday, P.Scott said, “we all have to make it, everyone is important, no one can be lost.”… So, I’m still pondering this…if low grade iron connections are natural and high grade steel panels are spiritual, would the result of using high grade steel connectors change history? And…Dad Swilley, “bringing the ship to life!” takes on more meaning for me, too!

Sidenote: Wiki says the low expectations for the film and the at-the-time highest ever film costs almost sank Paramount and 20th Century Fox but it went on to be a critical and commercial success, winning 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Titles on the pictures of the new slideshow of CITN don’t include this one…but…all aboard for the Magic Kingdom!

BTW...I AGREE...with every declaration on the CITN slides!

Excellent piece about Titanic and the connection to what you heard @ P-404, Avatar...

Actually, I started to use the Magic Kingdom on the captions, but thought that it might be misunderstood...anyway, I don't know if anyone else has noticed them, but it wasa blessing to put that slide together...I added a couple of pix today that I found while hunting for Uganda pix...and thanks for your help, BTW...

Spring yes I hear that phenom happens!!!!!! I wish I could have gotten all of the service today. What I heard was awesome.

I did, in fact, think of you when I said that, NL...I don't know if I can sit through the whole Godfather trilogy again, but a few months ago we ate at a restaurant where Al Pacino was eating, and as he was leaving he stood right by my chair while he talked to someone at the next table...I wanted to say something to him from the movies, but I figure that's been done before...

Thanks, P. Nancy...I don't waste time on regrets, but I kind of thought that I missed it today...when I started speaking, Holy Spirit seemed to be moving me in the direction of talking about universal worship, but I went with my original plan, anyway, and I never seemed to get my rhythm back because of it...so I appreciate the good word...what's done is done...the word doesn't return void...

Bishop Jim Swilley said...

Hey Debra...I didn't know anything about it until I read it on one of the prayer request forms as I was praying over them...glad you're doing better, and thanks, also, for the confirmation about the word...

I declare that your health will spring forth, speedily...

Bishop Jim Swilley said...

OK, Lisa, with your third confirmation about the word, I'm just going to believe that I did the right thing in going with Sermon Plan A...and if you Google "Spring", I'm sure that you can find some info about it...it's beautiful here right now...

Miracles are all around.
I look yet I fail to see
Miracles are in reach
I reach yet I fail to grasp
Miracles are raining down
I stand yet my area is dry
A voice calls out
The miracle lives in you
You are the miracle
Live the life of the miracle you are

When I think of Spring this song comes to mind

As Sung by Cat Stevens
lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Avatar- The rivet thing is so interesting and true. Every cell is important to the health of the Body.

The neat thing is that with a picture puzzle, when you are finished except for one piece, what do you do? You search high and low for that one piece! If there are several or multiples missing, not so urgent, but THE ONE PIECE! The sheep lost in the ditch. The essential puzzle piece, SO NOTICEABLE BY ITS ABSENCE!
Not complete without it.

Had a great time at the wonderful production of Jesus Christ Superstar! So colorful, so well done- powerful & touching. Chandra was beaming and superb as usual and gracious to meet with us in the lobby after the show. Big showing for CITN at about 50 folks or so. Thanks for the participation of both singles and non-singles, we were a presence!
Dr. Torri did a great job of coordinating the event and keeping everything straight! Good work Torri! Had a nice meal with a dozen or so at "Taps" afterward.

Debra- glad to hear you are doing well! Speedy convalescence to you!

Bishop- the thing that impacted me most from today's service strangely enough was watching Sofia run/toddle over to P. Debye and throw her arms up to be picked up. Just such a vision of the love and acceptance of the Lord when met by the expectation of mercy and kindness of a believer. There is nothing so wonderful as the mercy and lovingkindness of the Lord after we fall down.

Love the Twila Paris lyrics from The Warrior is a Child:

Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
Strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears

They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

Unafraid because His armor is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
Never face retreat
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet

They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
the warrior is a child

They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and look up for a smile
'Cause deep inside this armor
Deep inside this armor
Deep inside this armor
The Warrior is a Child

"In our weakness He is made strong"

Blessings to all!

The miracle is that every day i s greater than the day before as we live, move, and exist in the perpetual increase of the Holy Sprit-led revelation of the Kingdom. Each moment is an opportunity to know that this moment; this now is the greatest, most miraculous moment the Holy Spirit has ever led me to and through. The confidence that the Holy Spirit has revealed the miraculous so that He may reveal even greater things! I am expectant!

Anytime, Bishop. I guess MagicK is like one of those nicknames you only get up in front of family to share--(smile).

Larry and Bishop, thanks. The metaphor is staying with me and added to today's word, I'm asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any iron rivets in me. I declare that I'm ready to hear.

Twila's Warrior Child...ah, yes, Larry. I may have shared this before, but I'll "reveal" that I'm a first generation Beatles fan and, raised for the most part outside of the traditional church, I opted out of Christian popular music until I was introduced to Twila's worship tape. Yes, tape. I wore it out.

I heard God in many "secular" songs, but Twila's "How Beautiful" is what led me to start searching the scriptures about the Body of Christ...and to see its beauty.

Cool, Centurion. I gotta go get some "revelation in front of the mirror" time. Later, bloggers.
