Carpe Diem! - (repost)

Carpe diem is a phrase from a Latin poem by Horace which is popularly translated from the movie Dead Poets Society as "seize the day". The general definition of carpe is "pick, pluck, pluck off, gather" as in plucking or picking a rose or apple, although Horace uses the word in the sense of "enjoy, make use of, seize." The point is, this is the day the Lord has made…don’t waste it.

If you’re angry with someone today, just go ahead and forgive them if you can, because what you’re mad about is, more than likely, not worth it. This time next year it probably won’t even matter to you…you might not even remember it. One thing is for sure, if you knew that this was your last day on earth, you definitely wouldn’t care about some petty offense or hurt feelings.

If you’re dealing with disappointment today, get things in perspective. If you can move away from it a little and try to see the situation objectively, you’ll probably realize that the perceived disappointment may, in fact, be a blessing in disguise. Who knows? Something may have been removed from you to make room for something new and better.

If you are dreading or fearing something that is coming up, just stop worrying about it. Things are rarely as bad as they first appear, or as your anxiety makes you feel that they will be…and if it is actually a negative thing, worrying about it isn’t going to make it any better. Just deal with it when the time comes.

It’s a beautiful day, so make the decision to enjoy it and make the most of it.

Something really wonderful may be on its way to you right now. Don’t miss it. Opportunity may knock today, and if it does, you don’t want to be distracted by a lot of unnecessary noise in your head…you don’t want opportunity to have to leave a note that says, “I knocked, but no one was home so I moved on”.

Get into your day…live in every moment…Carpe Diem!

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.’ (Matthew 6:34 – The Message)

When I read those words (carpe diem) they cause me to wonder, If days are like currency (or allowance from Abba) how & (on what) do we spend them?

A new neighbor moved into our little community months ago. I walked over, introduced myself & mentioned how she'd enjoy meeting other residents.

She'd had a long day at work. Thanks, but maybe some other time. (joking that if they were really so kind, they'd have come over, themselves)

Last weekend, she flagged me down, all verklempt.

"I JUST HAD TO TELL YOU! This is so God, I knew you'd appreciate it." (yes, we talked about the Almighty, our very first meeting)

Her son & his girlfriend had met the neighbors I'd previously tried introducing to her. She walked over & extended her hand, too.

Then, the proverbial light bulb moment.

Turns out, they attended the same church, years before! They frequented each other's work places; knew one another's family. Plus, newest on the block used to teach her neigbor's son in Sunday school!

It'd been years; they'd lost contact. One is now a widow, raising her grand-sons. The other, divorced with grown children.

New neighbor described recent stuggles, the eventuality of retirement & her agony of uncertainty. She wondered - had she made the right decision of moving to our street?

God probably had Himself a good kneeslapper. Kinda made me cry for joy for all of us. (their names are the same as two of my sisters)

I hope it pleased Him, knowing that's how my tears were spent one day.

Thank you Bishop.... Even though I know it... sometimes it is good to tweak ones perspective again... I am a magnet to receive all that God has planned for me... and I will notice each miracle big and small in my life today. This is a great time to be alive…

Hey All

Today I went to prayer as I entered into prayer I became very heavy. I heard the Father say give a quarter for everyone there in the offering bucket and .25cents in change. There were 5 of us. He showed me the four quarters make a whole and that the change was the dominations/ nations crying out. I grab my planner and started to write what He put in my heart.

Today be filled with joy overflowing. This day is given to you. Reach the corner of your mind. Separate the difference and embrace the wholeness of that which is different. You are one part not separate but united. Embrace you uniqueness. Today starts a new awareness of who I am. Look to each other. Lift your brother up. Pray for one another. You are a portion of the whole. Give what you can. Help each other and see the miracles you seek will seek you. In all love one another.

River,
How AWESOME the Word you got! Thank you for sharing and praying for us all. It reminded me of how I felt about the post I put in the prayer room yesterday.......so I thought I'd add it here today for those that seldom, if ever, visit us there. Thank You !

Today I am all about music and lyrics, it's lifting my soul.

On Bishop's NOW MINISTRIES Music Playlist, song #8 "I Need You to Survive" by Kirk Franklin....reminds me of THIS prayer room and the spirit of it all.
SO, indulge me as I share the lyrics, in case you've never heard them.

I need you.......you need me.....
We're all a part of God's body
Stand with me......agree with me...
We're all a part of God's body

It is HIS Will.....
That every need be supplied
You are important to me.....
I need you to survive

We all are this CITN prayer family, God's family......we need each other and pray for each other and are SO BLESSED, aren't we ?

Peace,
Northern Light

Started my day like this...Getting ready for work in bathroom, Bailey special needs 13 year old brushing her teeth while I get ready...TV on. Good Morning America showing injustice of AIG Insurance Company paying only 50% of claims-the cheap non important ones- I am struck dumbfounded....they show a fellow who needed a prosthetic leg and AIG refused. He is on the TV with a wooden leg painted like the American flag.....to which Bailey stops brushing her teeth and begins to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the nice fellows leg. I begin to laugh and she shoots me a nasty look that says "how dare you be THAT unpatriotic" Seize the day ya'll. Bishop you sure you can't just drop in occasionally?

Tracy,
Sweet and funny "parental" moment that only you can understand, unless you're a parent in any similar situation. I found it adorable.

Thanks for sharing, even if you are "unpatriotic." hahahaha j/k
