All kidding aside, I want to give God a praise for what happened in N. Korea today. In case you don't know, they blew up a 60-foot cooling tower at the Yongbyon nuclear facility, dramatically destroying the most obvious symbol of their recent nuclear proliferation. The tower isn't too technically significant--North Korea could easily build another one--but its destruction is the nation's latest step back from the brink of nuclear confrontation with the United States and its allies.

I don't say a lot about our president. I was taught that if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all. But today I am rejoicing that something like this happened on his watch, and I will gladly give him props for being a part of the peace process. It's certainly better than hearing him call NK part of the "Axis of Evil". Kim recently prophesied that Bush wouldn't leave office in disgrace...I don't know...it was just nice to hear about this today.

Peace on earth, good will toward men...

Sahib,

Sounds like we are dealing from a position of strength and the former original member of the Axis of Evil has comes to terms with that.

Peace through Strength

Avatar, to answer your question about my picture:

In September of 2004, John L. Hennessy, President of Stanford University, made the unprecedented decision to reject Device to Root Out Evil, a sculpture that had been commissioned by the President's Panel on Art by the American sculptor Dennis Oppenheim. Hennessy feared a potential controversy because the sculpture is an inverted church. In a statement, Hennessy said the piece was "not appropriate" for the campus.

Following this announcement, the local and national press reported a dismayed and sometimes outraged reaction to the President’s verdict from those who felt that the University should not use hidden decisions to avoid controversy.

Later, Oppenheim has announced that the Benfic Foundation, a private foundation, located in Vancouver, British Columbia has purchased "Device to Root Out Evil" for over three-hundred thousand dollars and it is permanently installed at Harbour Green Park, the longest continuous waterfront park in downtown Vancouver. At the present site, the twenty-five foot aluminum structure shimmers against the waterfront background. Hand-blown deep red glass shingles and blue-glass windows reflect sunlight during the day and are illuminated from within at night. The sculpture's new home enables Vancouver citizens and visitors to permanently enjoy the conversation which Device to Root Out Evil evokes. The sculpture is part of the The Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale Open Spaces 2005/2006.

The artist maintains that his interest is in exploring the dialogue between architecture and sculpture. Device to Root Out Evil "withdraws functionality from architecture." To those reading religion into the work, he answers that "Turning the church upside down makes it more aggressive, but not blasphemous."

Yeay! on blowing up the 60-foot cooling tower at the Yongbyon nuclear facility.

There will be world peace; God said so.

And we dont have a tribulation period to get it or an antichrist.

Now if you want to go ahead and tribulate, you can tribulate your heart out.

I'm looking for peace, and every sign of it. like this one today!

I was happy to see the videos of the cooling tower coming down. I realize that it's more symbolic than substantive, but still it is a move in the right direction...whatever the political spin. In the long-term, I pray that it brings the global community another step closer to peace; in the more immediate future, I pray that it brings relief to the impoverished and starving citizens of North Korea.

Lord, I pray that You bless our President and all leaders and their respective nations. I ask that in Bush's final months in office he becomes known as a President who ended his terms as a definitive peacemaker. In Jesus' name, amen.

N. Korea still has quite a way to go before they are no longer considered a threat. But I have to say opening the nuclear "books" to the parties involved along with the destruction of the cooling tower is movement in the right direction. Any step towards peace, no matter how incremental, is a reason to continue in hope.

We did see the movie. It was, without a doubt, the most inspiring, moving, and uplifting documentary I've ever seen. I cried, laughed, clapped, got angry, and sat quietly in awe as the heart breaking, heart warming story of a people who never gave up hope or lost their will for a free Estonia, unfolded. Speaking in one voice, with one mind, and one vision, their peaceful resistance through the power of the Uni-verse(their "one song"), prevailed against one of the most brutal regimes in modern history. Without striking a blow or firing a shot, freedom and sovereignty through purposeful peace was achieved.
Dude, it was awesome...thank you.

PS...
About our mutual friend...sure is a small world, huh. Just another reason to believe in our interconnectedness. It's real

This is off the subject but has anyone read the book "The Secret Message of Jesus: Uncovering the Truth That Could Change Everything"
By Brian D. McLaren? I was reading the review and it sounds interesting. I was just wondering if it is worth reading.
