Most of us have faced times of experiencing an abrupt and unhappy ending to a chapter of our lives. Even though we are not ready to move on, we are forced to.
David wrote Psalm 3 when he was forced to flee from his son, Absalom. David at this stage was a mature but still highly capable king. He had made mistakes and people were aware of his flaws, but to be evicted by his upstart son was initially beyond belief.
This is a good Psalm to read in moments of internal pain and painful public humiliation. It reminds us that when we get knocked off our secure pedestal, the God of all hurts is there to nourish us. No matter what happens to us, God’s comfort can still reach down and touch us.

"secure pedestal" seems like an oxymoron, but I get the essence...(wordver is "inesse"--smile)
I took a 16-edged word-sword in the gut on Thursday. This post "in essence" explains why it didn't take long to recover. Maybe I am all those strong words to some, but God loves me anyway and I know some human beings that do too.
The good news for me is that the recovery, even taking the sword, showed me how much I've grown. I like knowing that. I even like knowing that it hurt.
Among the many things I heard in your teaching Thurs night at Midtown, Bishop, was not to lose the lesson. I found two...but, frankly, I hope there aren’t more coming back around because I didn’t learn them!
It's been a while since I said thank you for this blog and all you do and are...
thanks!
much!
